    27.5x2.8 all-rounder tires?

Greetings. First post here! I am ditching my 3.0's in favor of 2.8's. I'm looking for a predictable tire with good grip, and fast rolling ability. I ride mostly hard/loose over hard. I think Minions are overkill for my trails. I was thinking Rekons, or XR4 front/ XR3 rear (maybe even XR4 f/r). Any opinions on these combos? Should I be looking at something else? I ride a hardtail, so ride quality is important, too. Thanks for any suggestions.

I'm interested to hear what others advise.
I've just got back into MTB after a 20 year hiatus and am on a Trek Roscoe 8 that came stock with 2.8 Schwalbe Rocket Rons. They've been fine for the local loose over hardpack and rock gardens. Been having fun on berms, jumps and drops with them.as well.

At 16 psi front and 18 psi rear I've had enough grip so far and also relatively comfortable (for a hardtail with only 120mm travel. However in really steep stuff they feel close to breaking loose and now I'm getting a lot faster and traveling to more intense trails overseas I'm looking for a more aggressive set of tires with better grip, especially on the front...

I have a SC Chameleon that I run 27.5x2.8 tires and for all but the muddiest times of the year I run the Rekons FR & RR. Great tire for almost all conditions. Lots of folks like the Bonti's to but I can't speak to them.

I run the 3C compound on both ends because of the rocks and roots in SWPa and do not feel any rolling resistance. If you would like a bit more speed you could use a dual compound on the rear.

I don't think you could go wrong with either combo from what I've read on the Bonti's but I prefer the Reckons.

Rocket Ron, XR2 are a couple good choices where aggressive tread is not necessary. Either will roll fast and efficiently. I have two bikes that wear the RR liteskin tires and the ride quality is very nice. If more durability is in order, snakeskin or XR2.
The XR4/3 could be a great combo too.

I'm not ready to ditch 3.0 at this point since the size works better for the places I frequent.

WTB Ranger or Terravail Coronado. XR2 is a great expensive option.

Rekon 2.8" front & rear or DHF 2.8" front and Rekon 2.8" rear. Both good choices. The DHF up front doesn't slow you down much and really adds a lot of traction in the turns, but dual Rekons are good if the need for speed is more important.
    Safe riding,

Mine came with 3.0 and NobbyNics but the 2.8 should be available for RocketRon.
I like my newer rear that is RocketRon and will do the front when it needs to be changed.

A tad bit tighter knobby surface than NN, not super deep and smooth, fast roller with traction when you need the bite.
The old Tsali from Performance was a good one too , similar to the small block tread but not sure of size options. Running 2.2 on my old 26'rs
