    Yeti SB5c Build Thread

The "SB5c/Switch Infinty Link" thread is getting a bit jumbled, having to scan through many pages to see any builds. Besides, this bike deserves its own build thread. Hopefully everyone will re-post their builds here. So here goes:

1st Yeti - I'm part of the tribe.

    Frame: SB5c M
    Fork: Pike 160
    Headset: Chris King
    Drivetrain: XO1
    BB: Raceface Cinch
    Cranks: Raceface Next SL
    Chainrings: Raceface Direct Mount 30t
    Brakes: Shimano XT
    Rotors: Ice Tech 180/160
Stem: Raceface Turbine 35 (50 mm)
    Bars: Raceface Next 35
    Grips: Raceface Half Nelson
Seatpost: Rock Shox Reverb 100 mm
    Seat: Specialized Henge Expert
    Wheels: Nox Composites Teocalli 27.5
    Hubs: Chris King
    Rubber: Specialized Butcher/Ground Control
    Pedals: Shimano XTR
    Bottle Cage: Blackburn Camber
    25.25 lbs without pedals

    Rider: 5'8" (on a good day) - 155 lbs

    Yeti SB5c Build Thread-largeyeti.jpg

Changes: dropping fork to 150 and switching out the 100 mm Reverb for a 125 mm.

Went with a stock X01 build. First FS bike (and my first Yeti) and figured Yeti would do a better job of spec'ing than I could.

    Great fun

NSM- Whats up with your cable routing. Seems like you have to wires going to the drive side. Yeti recommends just the dropper to the drive side. Figure something better out?

If I were to do it again I'd go for the M9020 brakes. Would like a little more power.

Frame: SB5c med (5'8" 180#, normal proportions... I think, but I could stand to loose a few)
Fork: Fox Factory CTD 34 140mm
    Stem: Thomson Elite X4 50mm
    Bars: Easton Haven 740mm
Wheels: DT Swiss XM401 on DT 350 hubs
    Brakes: Shimano XT M785 180F, 160R
Tires: HR II front, Ardent rear (Ikons are junk)
    Cranks: XT
    FD: SLX
    RD: XT
    Dropper: KS LEV Integra
    Saddle: WTB
    Grips: Yeti lock-on
    ...and MUDHUGGERS!!!

Pretty much standard spec/not as bling as some on here. Will convert to 1x (for whatever reason LBS built it as 2x) and want to put a Pike 150 on. Wouldn't mind trying longer bars, too? On that note has anyone ridden it with a 140 then went to a 150? Would like to know if it's a significant difference?

2nd Yeti, used to have a 575 back in 2010.

Yeti SB5C Medium (probably the first in Malaysia!
    )
    Fox 34 Float 140mm
    Easton Haven Carbon Bar 730mm
    Thomson 60mm Stem
    Sram XX1 Groupset
Guide RSC brakes with ICE tech rotors
    DT 350 W/XM 401 rims
Maxxis Ardent 2.4 front, Maxxis Ikon 2.1 rear wheels
Rock Shox Reverb Stealth Seat Post
    Yeti WTB seat
    Cane Creek 40 headset
    Xpedo Spry pedals

    Bike Weight: 26.6 pounds

Previous bike : Small size 2013 Stumpjumper FSR Expert carbon 29er
    Rider weight: 85kg
    Rider height: 180cm

The tires came with the bike, the Ardents are fine, but im chucking the Ikons when i have time, slipping and sliding all over the place

1st ride today with the Yeti, its a totally different beast from my stumpy. I kinda miss my 29er that could bulldoze tru rocks the size of watermelons and 1 feet vertical drops without even feeling it.

But the sheer accelerative power of the Yeti coupled with the ease in uphill climbs make up for it (but to be honest, im not sure its the 29 vs 27.5 diffrence or the fact that i shave off 2.5kg of weight going from the stumpy to Yeti)

I'm looking forward to getting my SB5c in the next couple weeks. Building it up for more of an aggressive XC stance, living in the hilly part of New England. First-time tribe member:

    Medium frame in Turquoise
    RS Pike 140mm
    Stan's Crest wheels
Ardent 2.4 front, Ardent Race 2.2 back
    XTR M-9000 Race brakes- 180mm F, 160mm R
Race Face Turbine cinch 170mm crank with 32T ring
    X-01 1x11 drivetrain
    Thomson Elite seatpost
    Thomson stem 70mm
    Enve riser bars 740mm
    Terry Ti Fly saddle
    Time ATAC Ti/Carbon pedals

I'm 5'9" and 150 lbs. Will post pics when it's in my possession.

Coming from an alloy 26" Giant Anthem X, I'm sure it'll take some getting used to, but I can't wait to learn how to ride it.

Adding a little more specificity to my X01 build after getting a fitting. 225 in full kit and 6'1". Large frame.

Decreased fork oil to a little over 10cc's
    Fork air pressure 110psi
Rebound 10 clicks from full open
    Rear shock 210 psi
Rebound 8 clicks from full open

Rode well before. Rides really nicely now...

    Hi,
Where did you get your 140mm pike? I only find 130 or 150mm?

FWIW, I got mine with a Pike 150mm, then purchased the air shaft to reduce the travel to 140mm. I think there are a lot of OEM 140mm Pikes out there with certain bikes, but if you get one aftermarket or purchased individually new, they come in 150mm. Not sure about the 130mm-- I suspect those are OEM as well.

Shrub 1-- Very Nice!! How do you feel with a 32 stanchions fork? is it stiff enough?

    I`m deciding between a Pike RTC3 150mm (35) and the new DT Swiss 150 OPM O.L 150mm (32)

    Regards
