I went a little overboard on this, but I can't wait

I should hopefully get the frame in August ( missed the first batch ), which is no big deal the wheels will take that long to get anyway.

This will be replacing my Large 09 Giant Reign X1 ( which is to small for me ), some of the parts are parts I had already. I am 6'6" 225 and like to ride everything there is. XC trails, Downhill, light freeride ( Post canyon, but none of the huge crazy stuff there, aka barn drop no way :) )

Frame: XL Yeti SB-66 Black
Fork: Fox 36 160mm FLOAT RLC
65.9 deg head angle
Shock: DHX RC4 Coil ( will be selling the RP23 Air )
142x12mm Axle Kit
Headset: Cane Creek 40
Stem: Easton Havoc 50mm
Bars: Race Face Atlas FR
Post: KS i900 5"
Seat: Chromag Trail-master DT
Brakes: Shimano XT 180mm/180mm
Sticking with 2x9 speed 24/36 - 11/34
Shifters: SRAM X9
Front Der: Shimano XT
Rear Der. SRAM X9 medium cage
Bashguard: MRP- LRP shift able chain-guide
Cranks/BB: Race Face Atlas FR
Rings: 24/36 Blackspire Superpros
Wheels: Industry 9 Enduro ( White rims, black spokes, orange hubs )
Pedals: Spank Spike Flats.
Tires: 2.4 Panaracer Fire FR ( if they fit )

What are others build plans? spill it!

The tab that is on the inner chainring should be behind the crankarm. It's hard to tell in the pic, but I think this is the tab. Let me know how it works out, I had a terrible experience with those Super Pro rings and a Shimano chain. Ditched the bling rings for standard Deore rings and never had a shifting issue again.

Tab on the small ring? or middle ring. The small ring has no tabs or markings anywhere it looks exactly the same all around.

is the mid ring what your talking about? I'll have to look again.

EDIT: I think i see the tab your talking about on the mid ring in this random google picture https://lh4.ggpht.com/Kevin.Rants/SAVhTnvEpZI/AAAAAAAABjw/lH0g00hkGH4/IMG_2941.JPG

Edit2: Got it in the right orientation now thanks!

Lime Medium SB66

Got my SB Tuesday, got it built up that night and was able to squeeze in a quick ride Wednesday later afternoon. Wow!!! I heard it pedaled great, but it's hard to believe the hype till you are on it. Amazing. I'm still playing with my suspension settings to get that dialed, but so far the things I've noticed are:

1. shoots out of corners
2. Doesn't wallow in the mid travel through turns
3. Feels sturday as heck, very stiff
4. Makes great use of the travel-doesn't blow through on a G-out
5. low center of gravity feels very stable in corners
6. Top Tube with a 50mm stem(5'11" my height) is great!
7. Aesthetics are top notch
8. tons of tire clearance

Build Spec:

Medium Lime SB66
12 Fox 36 VAN RC2 Kashima 160mm
12 Fox RP23 Kashima (may try a coil Fox or Avy too)
Cane Creek 110 Inset headset
Thomson 50mm Elite 31.8 stem
Easton HAven Carbon bars 28" lo rise
ODI ruffian lock on grips
Hope Mono M4 Special Edition (Black) Brakes Floating rotor 160mm rear - 183mm frt
Rockshox Reverb Seatpost
WTB Silverado Ti seat
Thomson 35.0mm seat collar
SRAM XO 170 Carbon Cranks (1x10 setup)
Homebrewed Components custom XO spider 32T chainring( arrives 9-2-11
Chris King GPX BB
MRP Mini G2 Lopes Guide
Crank Bros 2012 Candy 3 pedals
SRAM XO shifter
SRAM XO med cage rear der
SRAM PC 1091 chain
Shimano 142 x 12 Axle kit
Stans Flow rims laced to Hadley Hubs 142x12, 110x20, 14g spokes, Titanium Cassette
Conti Mountain King 2 Tires - 2.4 Protection series

So, that's the build for now. I'm putting the finishing tweaks on tonight
- Frameskin custom film protectant kit for SB66
- Cable shortening and fit
- Suspension tweaks

I'll get a ton of ride time in this weekend and report back next week.

Here are the pics:

Shucks, I don't think the white saddles are available anymore. I have one on my 303 RDH but it is not in the greatest condition and I'd like to replace it. Thanks for the information though.

Heres a quick video I put together of myself and RichieNZ riding our new 66s
Great video and nice riding. At the beginning of it someone is walking up the trail. Any reason why or just for effect? I haven't had an opportunity to ride one but have heard that they climb very well.

Yeah it would be nice to be summer. Maybe at least a winter where there's enough snow to ski on...

My SB-66

Very nice Nag! My SB pretty much weighs the same with a 6" KS post as well, but is two sizes smaller (med) and all air suspension, go figure :)

Here's a a couple SB shots from trip to Sedona that I just came back from last night with 7days of great riding and the 66 handled the techy pedally chunk fantastically! Liked it even better than a Firebird that I demo'ed while Pivot was there in these conditions where the Bird typically shines.

Hey Jacopo,
If you don't mind me asking, how tall are you?

Looks like you got yourself a killer build in the works! I have to say, I had a 66a briefly, and was so impressed that I sold it off and got a 66c. Not sure if it's just the way the shock is valved or what, but it just doesn't have that magical feel that I loved about the 66a. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but I sometimes think about going back to the alu version...

Bicycle tire Tire Bicycle wheel Wheel Bicycle wheel rim

So fast forward a bit and I have had some fun riding and building this bike.
I have added a shorter, 50mm stem and found it makes a world of difference in handling and fun factor.
I have also gone to a FLOAT 34 Fork
Fox Float X w/remote rear shock
Fox DOSS Dropper
Wolf tooth 32 chainring and 40 t cog (with a 16 in stead of the 15 and 17)
as well as an XCX guide

All in all, the bike continues to be a scream and after a winter of tinkering, I am ready to ride!

Well, I just joined the Tribe.
Just shelled out on a 2013 SB66a (XL) with a Float X. I'll build up the rest of the bike after my tax return in July, but looking at throwing a Marzocchi 55 CR (spaced down to 150mm) on the front, with the standard array of XT parts and dropper post etc. Will update with pictures as things progress, but kind of just excited to be able to say I bought a Yeti.

2013 SB66 Enduro build

Congrats to everyone who just bought one of these

Made a few changes to my 2013 enduro build:

-1x10 with race face narrow wide 32t and new X9 type 2 derailleur
-Race face 45mm stem- down from a 60mm and feels much better- I'm 5'10" 32" inseam on a medium frame

So far everything is working great and the bike has exceeded my expectations. The only thing I am not thrilled about is the fork. It is a 2013 fox 32 ctd 150mm. Not only does it look puny on the bike but it has an awful lot of brake dive and I just don't think it feels great in general. Is anyone else running this fork and having the same issues? It came on the stock build, I wish I had gotten a 34. So I am thinking of swapping it out with possibly a Pike, X fusion slant or Marzocchi 55. I like the travel at 150 and I am not sure if a 160 fork will slacken it out too much for climbing, which I do a lot of. I ride this as a "trail/all mountain" bike, biggest drops about 4'. May take it to a bike park or 2 this summer so I want it to be capable. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

Also price point has a deal on a Marzocchi 55 tst micro sta 160mm for $500 if anyone has experience with this fork.

The Pike is the best fork that you can buy for a SB66,160 is not going to slow you down on the climbings because the Pike has a low Crown to axle for a 160mm and has a anti dive feature on the damping Cartridge .

Made some changes to the SB66 for this year and I couldn't be happier with the bike once again. Everything about it feels better and more composed. My gosh that old 2013 Talas was a piece of crap!! The Pike 150mm Solo was great on the first outing and I just received the new 2015 Monarch+ RC3 Debonair last night and got that bolted in. The rear shock feels a ton more supportive then the old Fox CTD early in the travel. It does feel like it takes larger hits in a very similar fashion though, bottomless on this bike. Also went from a 2x10 with heavy guide and guard down to a nice simple 1x10 this year and a bit different brake pad then the stock XT.

I had to take a couple shots before getting it all dirty again out on the trail haha. Bike comes in at a hair under 29 lbs at the moment. Looking forward to some blissful single track!!

I just ordered the Med tune 2015 Monarch + Debonair... how many volume spacers are you running in yours? I'm guessing that with the bigger air can, I'll need at least a few, but was hoping to get a "starting point" from you. Thanks!!!

My drive side nut has play too. Just be careful with screwing the axle in so you don't strip the threads (happened to me).
When I am screwing the axle, I push on the nut into the frame to keep it straight on the axle threads to avoid any stripping.
I wouldn't worry about the play, my 2012 frame is going VERY strong with that play.

Here is my 'budget' SB-66 build. I bought a bikesdirect bike and hated the geometry so I bought a frame and swapped the parts. Ran out of zip ties installing my dropper but there's snow on the ground so I haven't bothered with the cable yet :)

2013 SB-66A XL
2012 Revelation RLT at 140mm
XTR shifters
XTR front/rear derailleurs
FSA V-Drive 175mm Crankset
SLX Cassette
KMC X10SL chain
Avid Elixir CR brakes w/ 160mm rotors
Specialized Magnesium platforms
X-Fusion Hilo 125mm dropper
WTB Rocket V saddle
Panaracer FireXC Pro 2.1
Junky wheelset I hopefully kill soon so I have an excuse to buy another.
Syncros FL 90mm Stem (replacing with a 60mm before the season starts)
Race Face Ride 710mm flat bar
