yehhh I cased that one ! lol

run approx 32-35, but the paper thin side wall of the RR gave way in that very photo! cut it on a small sharp piece of rock and had to walk back to the car after that very photo.

    more from the day

Adam, where did you get that protector for the down tube ? Looks different than the one Yeti sells for the carbon bike.

Company called Rock Guardz in the UK, Rockguardz - Real Carbon Fibre MTB Rock Protectors

It works pretty well at protecting that part of the frame. Doesn't attach with any kinds of glue or stickies either.

Just recieved my chip kit and shimano axle. No instructions though and I don't want to mess it up. Anyone have a link to how to install the kit?

I'd be interested in hearing if you notice a big difference once you upgrade. I'm on the fence with whether to go that route myself, since it'd be $100 for the thru axle and chip kit, and then another $80 for the 142mm King axle. I also bought 2 extra 135mm QR hangers awhile back that would then be useless. At the same time I'm going to be doing some big mountain riding this summer. Anyway, some before and after impressions would be helpful.

Has anyone installed the 12x142 adapters on 2012 or newer Mavic Crossmax wheels? I was using the QR end caps that just pushed in by hand and when I removed those the shimano thru axle doesn't seem to need the supplied 12x142 adapters. I don't see how they are supposed to be installed bc the instructions with the wheels are complete garbage.

I'm on 12x142 with Mavic Crosstrails. I am using the red mavic spacers that came with the wheelset to get the 142mm. I think the hubs on both crosstrail and crossmax are the same.

To be more clear the axle will foot through the wheel fine but you need the end caps ton change the wheel from 135mm to 142mm.

I finally figured out you have to remove the end caps (cassette must come off as well) and install the 12x142 adaptors. The problem is that the end cap on the non drive side looks like it shouldn't come off but it does pop off. I used some channel locks to get a grip on the very tip of it and wrapped it in a napkin so it wouldn't scratch. The drive side QR end cap is removed by taking off the cassette first and then using a 17mm wrench to spin it off.

The non drive side 12x142 adapter just pushes on by hand and the drive side has threads.

Ahhh ok makes sense. That's different then my crosstrail then. Endcaps just slide on both sides and held in place by a little oring.

There was an o-ring holding the non drive side on but it was tough to get off by hand so I had to use the channel locks. It was not threaded on though, just kind of stuck. I haven't taken off the drive side yet b/c I didnt' have a cassette removal tool.

    Hi Jacopo
Great looking Yeti. I'm about to build one up and I'm thinking of going with the Monarch plus & Lyrik Forks. How are yours performing, are they what you expected?
    Cheers

Picked up a large alu frame! Comes with the CTD (had one on a previous bike & liked it a lot!) and I will also be running a Ti-coiled RC4 for the rough days! Im stuck on the fork! I have a 2013 Talas 130-170 RC2, I know I know, Talas is crap! Not this one! The RC2 is a nice fork! I was the biggest Talas hater in the world but that was the crappy RLC versions! I could also go with a 34 160 CTD fork???

I will be keeping my ASR-7 as well!!! Build should be done soon, cant wait!
