Yeti 575's are beautiful as are Titus MotoLite's

Fellow Yeti riders, we from the Titus forum were not at all dissing your steads, not at all, some of us just had a minor issue with a call that the ML climbed like crap. It would be like if I said the 575 climbed like crap. It is not true, there is right and wrong in this instance.

Sure some folk may feel that either bike does not climb as good as something else, but too say they climb like crap is bollocks...

    This thread:

    Mba

started as by ShanePVT saw a test on the Carbon rare ended Yeti, GreenBonty then requested a ride report on the ML, then

BOOM The thread went too crap........ So let us get back to what we love to do, RIDE...

This thread was messed up by our friend Jerk Chicken commenting and using what he found was his deffinition of reverse psychology. JC knock it on the head, seriously man, most of your posts are interesting, you have gone a little potty.... I mean using the name Vyatec, using that constantly, you say you are not about causing trouble, yeah mate, two wrongs dont make a right................

So let us have peace with the Yeti and Titus Folk......

    I'll drink for that

Sorry it went this way. I asked question out of simple curiosity and the fact I could not demo an ML myself . I like my Yeti very much, but chances are if I demoed the ML I would have liked it too. It's actually you guys that convinced me to go 5x5 when I asked the Titus board "ML or RX". As said before my very short encounter with a real ML was positive. If I'll find an ML owner here (their are quite a few blue MLs smoking the local trails) that will want to go ride together, I'll sure do it. It's a shame I can not ride your's since it looks Great!.
As said by others before, I know that most riders are extremely nice to each other on the trail.

That's true- because all Ellsworth bikes climb like old 300 lb women

Seriously though, it good that we get input from other riders too. JC is going progressively insane. He is going to snap one of these days.

    Meet you at Competitive Cyclist

Sometime this fall I plan a trip to Arkansas, where my nephew is serving with the Air force, and I am going to pay a visit to Competitive Cyclist. They sell a lot of the boutique bikes-- Titus, Ellsworth, Intense, Ventana, Turner, Salsa. I'll ride 'em all and give you the 411 and we'll settle this thing once and for all. Provided you think like me, have a little trouble getting up the hills and favor Yetis...

Maybe we should all meet there, ride em and have some beer if you can get one in Arkansas. by the way, if you have the bucks this place will mail you a high-end bike you can test for a couple weeks. I think it's about $250, they charge your credit card for the entire bike and give you a credit when it comes back in one piece. A lot of change for a demo but it could help you make the right decision on a high dollar bike since you can ride on your own trails.
    What, me hurry?

That other thread was ridiculous, I didn't even want to start reading it as there was no worthwhile information on it.

    Me too...

I really dislike how it turned out on that thread....

Now if Whafe would send his Exogrid ML to Germany, I could do a fair comparison after I get my 575 frame sometime next week.

    How does that sound Whafe?

    Yeah!

That other thread went to crap... sorry about that. That JC dude goes way back over on the Titus board, and he just brought out the worst in me. The real honest to goodness truth is, I think Yeti's rock, and that racing turqous "sorry spelling" color looks the bomb.

You guy's remember that 575 pic that was floating around, a pretty long while back. It was a pic of a 575 at the top of a Mnt with a big american flag? Well that's the coolest pic of a MTB I've ever seen, and if I would have had a dealer at the time I might have bought one.

Anyway I just got back from a "rare" monday ride, and after a long weekend of riding I'm bushed! Again Yeti's are cool, the 575's cool, and you guy's are totally cool.

Dude, would be well keen to ride your 575. In New Zealand they were as rare as hens teeth, so never saw them, along with In Spain... Not that asthetics are everything, but the Yeti colour is the bomb. Fantastic colour................ Get your butt and 575 to Barcelona and we can shred some trails and you can demo a sex on toast ML.....LOL

You said it! I might take you up on this offer..... one Ryan Air flight and I am there!!! Let's see ... only one thing I got the "raw" one, I liked how "low profile" it looks (kind of opposite to your ML, that really stands out )

I will soon enough, my frame should arrive to a friend's house in Indiana today, and she will send it my way. So I guess I will have it in a week, I already bought a Pike on ebay and ordered a set of wheels from chain reaction cycles (Hope Pro 2s on DT 5.1s ), So I should be ready to build it up when the frame shows up.

    I'll let you know!

    Thanks... It looks awesome...

I picked this beauty up for €325 on ebay, the guy says he never installed it, although he cut the tube at 25 cm. But it looks pretty good and I think I got a good deal.

EDIT: I think I got a good deal because the guy placed it as a 2005 model, but, if I remember correctly, there wasn't a 454 in 2005, the models were SL, Race and Team

I hope to get it in the next couple of days.

Dude your ride is sweet. I remember drooling over it not too long ago. For me, i would be happy either way ML or 575. I just got an outstanding price on my 575 that I couldn't pass up. I do like the new logo graphics that Titus went with for the 06's. Either way I suck at climbing, it's all in the motor.

I tend to agree, we have ended up with a more passionate understanding of each companies bikes. Hang for me have really learned heaps. As I said had always checked out the new 575 build pictures, but this has taught me to hey, check out Yeti for next time, always a next time.....

Yeah... the outcome of all this mess was that now more people are better informed about both rides and there's a new respect between 575 and ML users for each other's bikes.

Both are terrific bikes. Damn, I can't imagine how difficult it would be to decide between the two of them when looking for a ride, unless you have already an idea of which one you want.

Yetis are PLAIN gorgeous. I've seen just an ASR-SL in the flesh and the bike is atonishing! Stupid light too (in a good sense of the expression). His owner swears by it and just taking a look at the list of bikes he has, the ASR-SL (or any Yeti for what matters) has to have something to it.

My full respect for the Tribe!

i personally thought the 575's BB was too low, and the front had a tendency to lift..just my opinion tho..seemed to corner nice.

The BB is 13.5, a bit lower than the ML (and may initially concern ML riders)but in line with most other except the Spot (which is now 13.2 or so). The front end will lift a bit if you set it up wrong, just like any other bike. Sag should be set between 22%-25% on both ends. The 575 front end stays very planted and keep in mind, I rode it along with my ASR-SL, which climbs technical stuff like I can't believe. The 575 has cleared some really technical climbs that I barely made up with the ASR-SL. It is very sensitive when it comes to the rear shock and somewhat sensitive to the front fork height but once you set up the pressure correctly, it just stays planted and keeps going as long as you can spin. The reason I always said the 575 was a good climber is that climbed all over the Front Range with my ASR-SL and then got the 575. I never felt like I had to compensate much to adjust to the 575. All I do is bend my elbows and rarely move forward and it just goes till I basically hit something I can't clear or my quads abandon me.

Also, regarding the paint on the ML, I'm very surprised that Titus does not offfer powdercoating or Anodizing and that the paint is so thin or fragile. Titus guys- give us some insight on this. It seems to be an issue on the reviews. I'm not trying to raise hackles here; just looking for more info or clarification. I'm sure someone has brought this up with Titus.

I have an early 05 ML, and have never lost a single ounce of paint.

Though if I did have paint in my eyes while riding, I imagen it "would" be difficult...

I'm being honest here and just stating what I know... I don't have a ML, so take it for what it's worth.

According to Titus, it was a bad batch. There was a problem with the curing of a batch (I don't know the size of the batch, to be honest... it may be 100 units or a thousand). Titus claimed a resolution and the vendor of the paint (don't know if Kinesys, but I doubt it) simply misunderstood the instructions and applied the paint coat over the bad cured primer.

Previous or newer ML's seem not to have this problem though.

As I stated on the Titus board a while ago, if you happen to have a chipping paint problem, go back to your dealer and Titus has offered to work it out to your satisfaction. But it has to be through a dealer... this is the importance to have one dealer you trust and stands behind you. Some of them are on-line like Bikerbob, Chad from Redbarn, Charles from Hammerhead, Competitive Cyclist, etc. They'll stand behind your purchase.

The '06 ML's do not have tyre clearance issues anymore, either. Not that there would be room for a 2.6... but you can put Kenda's 2.35's in there comfortably. If you need a rear tyre bigger than that, you should ask yourself if the ML is the right bike for you, maybe you need a bigger hit sled.

Yeah, I'm surprised they do not offer the powdercoat finish as an option. They'd sell like beers at a football game. Many have expressed their willingness to pay a little extra for the anodized finish. I have a black ano Switchblade and the finish is superb. I will find it hard to go back to powdercoat/paint after this bike.

Well... no bike is perfect, not even a (insert 575 or ML, as you desire here )

Very reassuring to hear that Titus provided an explanation and a fix. It would be great if these high-end bike companies all offered tough powdercoating or Anodizing. The 575 Ano is tough and easy to clean. However, the Ano on the Turner Flux seems thin/delicate and appears to scratch easier though I have kept my Flux scratch-free so far (no crashes). I guess Anodizing also has differences in how it's done and how it turns out.

My thoughts are that with all these frames they are not built up off the shelf bikes. The option should be there to as you say have powder coating, anodising etc. There are some whom do not mind paying the extra, user pays, no problem with that....Have not had a painted frame for years, my Ellsworths were anodised, and very well too. Oh yes the pearl whuite Uzzi was painted, that was strong paint................................

May as well find out as much as we can from a couple of welcome visitors since we rarely, if ever, visit the Titus board. You, however, can feel free to wander over to the Political forum or Recycle bin! I hope that wasn't too mean
