    XC Race a 575

What have you done to dial your 575 for racing?

    The races are 10 to 18 miles. 1000 - 2000 ft climbing.

    Setup (Stem / Bar)
Frame shock pressure / sag. Fork Sag
    Tires.

The biggest change would be tires/wheels. Possible stem if you usually run a Short Stem. Wouldn't change much else, really. Wheels and tires is where you save weight and change the most of the bike's handling to adopt XC racing. You would also probably run a higher pro pedal setting than usual.

Just go ride, conditioning is far more important than bike setup. If you start changing pieces of the bike out, then it won't feel comfortable and you won't go fast. Dial up the propedal a bit and just go for it.
Don't you hate it when a sentence doesn't end the way you think it octopus?

I totally agree. That's why I ride the Huffy I've had since I was seven. I feel comfortable on it, and I go fast.

I XC raced mine back in October. The only changes I made were tires (Mountain King Supersonics) and I threw my clipless pedals on in place of the flats. Finished 4th in my class (beginners).
