    What to do?! SB66C or SB95C ?

I currently have a 575 and love the SB95 and was set to build a SB95C..Then I happen to find a SB66C frame like new for way less than a new SB95c frame.

I could move most of my entire 575 build to the SB66 and save a ton of money, or I could continue acquiring parts for a SB95c and add it to my 575 in the garage....

    I am 6'4 240 lbs...decisions

Would I be happy with just a SB66C in the stable or have the flexibility of owning both a 575 and SB95c?

    any input appreciated...

A bargain 66c? You'd be mad not to.

    Why would you want a 575 and a SB95?

At 6'4 as well, I didn't even consider the SB66, I find that 26" bikes feel too small for me now, and look a bit goofy.

I'd sell the 575 and get a SB95, if it was me.

This has got to be one of the most popular questions on this forum, I asked it myself but you have very different reasons for asking.

Have a look back through the thread I started when I was deciding, but as the 66 is pretty much the only bike that would make me even consider going back to 26" I would say that it would be an easy way for you to get a lot of gain in performance for relatively little money.

You may want a 29er still despite getting the SB66c. Basically, get what you want and you will be less wanting... it's too often that lower prices on an alternative veers you away from a wiser choice.

Also consider that 29ers seem to outclass 26 so much in SoCal. There's hardly any roots or little undulations for 26" bikes to be playful on. Only loose slippery sandy hardpack (not the sticky moist hero dirt hardpack in other areas) and little rocks that land you on the same slippery hardpack with ruts, loose, and off-camber parts to deal with. You will appreciate the traction 29ers give you and popping off of rocks at lower speeds ain't exactly the most fun here. I would say the DH style capability is preferable, if you want to go fast on trails out here. Plus I think the SB95c looks better and has better build options for general trail riding. I imagine you would overbuild that SB66c for riding above your level, while the 95c may encourage better a spec for a vast majority of your riding.

If you buy that SB66c, that's 1 less person looking to get a SB95c, for those that are drooling for a deal for one out here.
