Sb-66 Switch Maintenance - Main Pivot Axle Removal...

Went to do some regularly scheduled maintenance of my 66 and was stymied by the main axle pivot. The one going through the Switch Link. I tried inserting the bolt some and using a dead blow hammer to work it out, but get really nervous at the amount of force I was having to use. I stopped and focused on the dog bone pivots instead, which were dry. So, I know I need to get into the Switch Link and apply some greasy goodness.

How are other 66 owners getting this axle out? I'm probably answering my own question here, but what about a wooden dowel of appropriate diameter to help push the axle out? What are you guys using?

Yes, I did remove the pinch bolt...

if it's like the '95 bolts they're both threaded, so you first need to remove the locking one and then unscrew the actual axle.

on the '95 it takes a 5mm to remove the locking bolt, and an 8 or 10 (I forget which) to unscrew the axle.

when I take mine out I use the allen to help pull the axle out.

i have no experience on the '66 so I don't know how it works, so YMMV.

Check the Owner's Manual on the Yeti website it shows a 10mm for the axle for the 2013 66c
