    SB 66 Jensons

Just got an email from Jensons saying they have the 12' SB 66 in stock for 3299! Did they go down in price or is this a special Jenson price? I've only seen the 66 for 3499. Anyways, hope this helps if anyone is looking for one.

The funny thing is, they are still trying to sell the 2011's for $3,500. That makes sense.

Sorry to say it but 2011 and 2012's are different. 2012's for 3299 only have QR front axles.. the kits will also be coming in Plus versions with 15mm thru axle or 36 version with 36mm fork and 20mm thru axle.

Here a link with the 2012 kits

I find it odd that enough people wanted a front QR on this bike that Yeti would even have an option. But as soon as I wrote that post above I was thinking "I wonder if that explains the Enduro+".

2012 base Enduro Kit has standard 10X135 QR in the rear. Where the Enduro Plus has 142X12 thru axle.

Ha. I agree, I was trying to phrase that as nicely as possible

Not sure if you looked at the link BigJZ74 added, but it appears this isn't correct. In 11, the enduro builds included front 15, rear 10x135 qr. In 2012, they added the enduro plus line, which gives both front and rear through axles. Essentially, there is no longer an option for just a front through axle.

I personally find this odd, and wonder what the reason behind the decision was. Does anyone really want a front QR these days?

Also to me, the pricing seems crazy. $200 extra for a front through axle? (based on difference from 2011 enduro, $3,500, to 2012 enduro, $3,299). Really crazy is the price difference for just the rear through axle, which is $350.00 (based on difference from 2011 enduro, $3,500, to 2012 enduro plus, $3,849.99).

I thought John P. from Yeti said there was never a 2011 SB-66 made, they have all been 2012 models from their inception.
I'd hit it, but I bruise like a peach.

I recall that, but I'm not going to look for the quote. In any event, the theoretical 2011 enduro were specced like the other 2011 enduro's, 15mm front, 10x135 rear. If they want to consider it a mid model year spec change, fine, but it seems like it is just semantics at this point.

The extra cost isn't really the front axle, but the change in wheels. DT Swiss 15mm front wheelsets cost good bit more than their QB based wheelsets. IMO you definitely want a 15mm or 20mm on the front of a SB66. This bike is way too capable on the descents to be running a QR.

Fair point...didn't take that into consideration. Really pricing isn't an issue. I'm mostly just surprised they changed from offering the enduro as front 15, rear 10x135. Why not keep that the same, and then have a plus model that adds in the back 12?

Not that I really expect an answer. I'm just curious.

I feel the Enduro QR/QR model should only be offered as the Enduro Plus, but there are some Yeti dealers that are looking for more of a price point bike and the QR front was one way they could lower the price a bit more. For GO-RIDE.com I only ordered Enduro Plus and up models.

    Guys-

I've posted this in a few other threads, but here's the straight dope once again:

The SB66 Frame has only been a 2012 model since its inception.

    For the kits:
The 2011 Enduro kit was a thru axle fork, QR rear. We got a lot of push back from dealers to lower the entry level price for 2012, and because component pricing steadily increases year after year, we had to make some tough choices. With that in mind, we are offering a couple of different 'Enduro' kits for 2012:

The standard 2012 Enduro kit has QR wheels front and rear.
The 2012 Enduro Plus kit has thru axles front and rear, and a pretty major up-spec in wheels - it uses the same X1600 wheels that we put on our Race XT kit.

    Hope this clears everything up.

Since it is a 2012 frame with a 2011 build does that make it a 2011.5? Kidding

Thanks for the answer, interesting to know it is because of dealer input.
