    I just pulled the trigger on a 2013 575.
THe Enduro kit will be ordered on Monday, when the Colorado boys get off the trail.
The only upgrade is a new in the box Easton Carbon bar I have.
    I can't wait.New Member of the Tribe-1044118_619008181445590_1170047270_n.jpg

Thanks. Im really looking forward to the huge improvement over my antique Proflex. Although I will always have a soft spot for a bike that carried me on so many epic rides.

It seems that my Easton 70 Carbon seatpost won't fit the Yeti.
No matter. We'll have to do something about that.

Highly recommend a dropper post. You won't regret it!

    Yup--maybe.
Bob at the LBS mentioned that as he was finishing up another build.
    First I'd seen one.
    Any downside?

Aside from a bit more cost, none! I would NEVER go back to a non-dropper, even with the added weight and complexity (one more thing to break down). It allows one to tackle so much wider range of terrain on the fly. No stopping to adjust post. Provides more confidence on technical bits (gets seat out of way). Safer on steep descents, drops and jumps. Yet pop back to full height for max pedaling efficiency on flat sections and climbs.

I run a Rockshox Reverb. Zero problems. Super smooth.

I've yet to talk to someone that tried a dropper post and wanted to go back to a fixed one.

    Thanks for that, LCW.
    Makes perfect sense.
    Must look into it.

This new bike on the way stuff has me thinking of all kinds of options.

So--you guys that have run recent SRAM stuff. I'm thinking of notching up to X9 shifters from X7. Would I see a difference? The RD is X9.

I swapped from X7 to X9 on an older bike back in '09, and there's isnt that much difference. I don't know how the recent X7 are, but they are probably on par with older X9. My older X7 had the indicator for which gear you were in. I noticed a bit more precision and better feel on the X9s, but like I said, today's X7 might be just as good as the older X9. My current bike has X9 (from 2011 or 12) shifters. No issues.

Before spending the money on the shifters, check some X9 out at a bike shop and see how they compare with your X7. Might be wiser to spend money on other stuff, like a dropper post, bash/chainguide, tires, etc.

OK-so I'm reading the manual for the 575 and---what does this mean?

    6. The Yeti chip system allows for an easy switch between a standard
    135mm QR or the142mm x 12mm Shimano thru-axle system.

The 575 from '11 and newer have essentially replaceable dropouts - ie. Yeti calls them "chips". The frame alone comes with the 135 QR chips. Some builds might come with the 142x12 but not sure. I bought my 575 frame only and built it up myself.

I upgraded mine with the 142x12 through-axle chips when I switched from my original XTR wheels (rear was QR - quick release). My Easton Havens are a 12 mm rear through-axle. Much stiffer interface.

I'm still not excited about the Yeti.
Nope. The fact that the kit will arrive at the LBS on Friday or Monday is nothing to me.
I'm not thinking about this at all on the job or afterwards.

What can I say? Oh--I know. I love this thing. Wow! What a huge difference over my old Proflex. This bikes makes you wanna go fast. I really like the shorter cockpit and wider bars and Yeti climbs way better than I thought it would. Tight wet single track--roots, rocks loose sand and gravel, doll heads--like budda!

Yeti Luv has bloomed! Been playing with the fork and shock a bit and having a blast!
Loving the wider tires and so many things. I moved the seat back about a quarter inch and that may be dialed in, now. This puppy climbs like a goat in love and is a really cool combination of trail absorption and communication.
Tomorrow's ride will be five in a row and then maybe a days recoup....then again maybe not. She calls to me.

Yup--she calls to me, but I haven't named her yet.
For sure a girl's name for reasons I don't need to explain.
Recuping because I'll need fresh legs for a weekend in the Northeast Kingdom.

I'm beginning to see light at the end of this tunnel of trying to get fit again. I have a long-long way to go, but I can see it in the distance behind a wall of notso dense fog.

    I'm thinking maybe "Sloopy".

    Whaddayathink?
