So I got the bug to do a frame-up build and tonight I finally pulled the trigger. Going to be building up a 2011 ASR 5 Carbon frame (size XL) with a '12 Fox Talas 140 15qr fork, 142mm rear conversion and some other goodies...Next week the parts should start filtering in, and I will take photos and add some posts to the ASR build thread..Pretty excited. Bring on next week!
So the frame arrived today, and here's the progress that I made. I am using a mix of new parts along with some from the bike the Yeti is replacing. It will look a bit different once complete.
Planned setup:
ASR-5 Carbon sz XL
'12 Fox Talas 32 140 RLC fork
'12 Fox RP23 adaptive logic
Chris King ISO 15qr front and 142x12mm thru axle rear hubs laced to Mavic 819 rims
Chris King headset
Thomson Seatpost (the setback is for the mock up, will swap in a straight one)
Thomson stem 100mm 10deg
Easton EC70 xc carbon low rise handlebar
Avid Elixir CR brakes 180mm front 160mm rear
Ergon GX1 grips
1x9 Setup, XT M780 crank, Salsa 32t chainring, X0 shifter, derailleur, cassette
KMC x9sl gold chain
So I "finished" the bike up tonight. I ended up going with an Easton seatpost instead of the Thomson. I'm sure something will change along the way, but this is how it will be for my first test ride.
Moab ? That is so last year you need to bring it to Fruita,CO and also take it for a few runs AT Winter Park or Keystone where the 66 will shine !! You need to ride it in the MotherLand
How are the stock tires on the SB66? Definitely thinking of getting a new set, probably the easiest way to improve handling ... mainly biking here in Utah and Moab ... definitely headed to CO and WY at some point this summer
If they are the Nobby Nic then they will be ok I love Mine !!
