    ASR5-Carbon, Should I be concerned?

At what point do I start to get concerned about chipping on my ASR5-C? I just noticed today after my ride this nice chunk missing. I have a lot of other chips but none this deep. Can these chips lead to serious cracks? The bike was a demo, but I have had it for only 3 months. Could the easy chipping all over my frame be due to previous riding?

That begs the question. I just bought an ASR5, and i'm wondering the best to protect the rear triangle. Clear tape? bike tubes?

Owning a 66c, I'm also curious about this (I've got a few dings on my top tube). My guess is that the lighter gray is the stronger structural layer (unless the rear end of the ASR-5 is carbon wrapped aluminum?) The paint/cosmetic layer has chipped away. Those who know better -- is this still safe?

I think you're good. If the carbon fiber was cracked or chipping you would see the fibers. That looks like enamel or some other type of cosmetic finish.

    Nice camera work! Good detail!

I have a similar sized outer layer chunk missing from the top of my top-tube, above the point the swing link mounts. Was there when I bought it; factory painted over it and everything. The paint doesn't look cracked after some riding. Are you worried that it might be a stress riser? Do you really have any choices but to just ride it? I'm thinking about protecting that spot on mine now, in case I get sloppy re-installing my wheel and the cassette bashes into it.
