New question here. 2010 575 with 140mm Fork??

    Hi Folks!

Already searched the Forum but didnīt find something usefull. Maybe Iīm too blind to see...
Just got myself a mint 2010 575 frameset and now have to buy a new (used) fork.
The Yeti homepage says 150mm or 160mm, but 150mm forks seem to be a rare breed over here. So I was wondering if I could buy a 140mm Fox Talas, but Iīm a little concerned about the headangle/geometry change.

Anyone around who has some experience with an 575/140mm combo?

    Thanks!
    kris.

When I got my 2009 575 it had a Fox 140 Talas on it. It worked fine. I have gone to a 150 and like it more, but the 140 worked fine. I actually had PUSH change my Talas to a Float 150. That worked wonders. Now I am running a shortened X-Fusion Vengeance HLR (down from 160) and like it even more. I put the Float on my 2007 575 where it is doing great.

    Good Luck,
    Mike

I've been running my 08 with a 130mm Recon. It is functional, but I bought a 160 TALAS that is currently at PUSH. Can't wait to see how the ride changes.

i've been on an 08 (same thing as 2010) with an RLC 140 for two years. i can't speak of a 150 or 160, but 140 works fine.

My 08 also has a 140 RLC and it works
just fine. However I don't do any big drops
or hits. If you do I would go with a 150.

    Best, John

I ran a 160 on my '08 the entire time I had it. I rode it in 130-145mm mode 50% of the time.
Where 150-160mm helped was (of course) on the chunky d/h, steep roll-offs and landing drop-offs...and even some technical climbing where getting the front end up onto the step-ups is key. The slacker H/A helps with all of those situations for me. Otherwise 140-ish was perfect.

I run a 140mm Float qr (2011) on my 2010 575 and it rips. I would consider myself a pretty aggressive rider and regularly hit jumps and drops with my 575. I am building an SB66 with a float 36 (160mm) on it but I plan to use it as a kind of bike park mini dh bike. To me for trail riding the 140mm is amazing (very light) my bike came with the 150 Float (15mm) but I changed wheel sets and with it forks. I really can't feel any difference between the 150 and the 140. My 140 with qr does flex a bit more than i would like but its not horrific (I would go with the 15mm unless your saving weight if your wheel set will allow).....I think the 160mm rating on this bike is a bit overkill as forks for me seem mor alike bike park/freeride material....

And a 140 Talas QR it is. Arrived yesterday.
Took a QR for now due to an existing wheelset. Maybe Iīm going to change that next year...

Does anyone use a front DR with a low clamp? All the photos I can see here are showing 575s with high clamp DRs...

99% sure low clamp FD will not work (100% sure it wouldn't on the old, knuckle design). The main pivot is right where the clamp would be.
