I've had a hard tail for about two years and have been pleased with it so far. However, I would like to try a Full-Suspension XC bike. I'm looking to spend under $1,800 which is challenging.
Right now, I'm looking at the Trek Fuel EX 5 and Specialized FSR XC Comp. The suspension design looks fairly similar, but with different pivot points. The brakes are the same and both are 120mm front forks.
Are these going to ride fairly similarl as they are close in specs? My primary goal is to have a good bike for trails in Texas, littered with roots and rocks and for Front Range riding near Denver, where I'll be moving soon.
I don't want to break the bank with a bike tricked with the best components right off the bat as they can be replaced. Just looking for a frame and set up that will be good for those conditions.
