    Wheel set upgrade ~500 inquiry

    Hey,
I have a jamis dragon comp with wtb speed disc rims. I'm looking for an upgrade around 500 dollars(ish) that'll be durable with a weight savings. I'd like to use the wheels for the occasional race and bike packing trip.
    Thanks,
    E

Stan's Crest ZTR. Assuming you are not over the 190lb weight limit.

+1. I don't know how they would hold up to bike packing. But I love mine for trail/race use.

Hmm those look like some nice hoops. I weigh 155 and have a pretty sweet revelate designs bike bag set up. I'm sure I pack no more than 30-35 pounds of gear, so I think I'll be ok with the 190 lbs limit? Although that might not give me any space to grow in the future, haha

Go with the Arch EX's and ZTR hubs if you are worried about the strength of the Crests.

check out hope hoops with the Crest rims. You can get them shipped for free from a few of the UK online bike shops. I got a set for around $350 from wiggle recently they are about $383 now free shipping. THe straight pull for a bit more. Better hub than the stans IMHO.

Wiggle | Hope Hoops Pro2 Evo MTB Rear Wheel | Performance Wheels

The front wheel is on order. And the only 29er is the crest, picked from the drop down menu. Make sure you add the promo code 15-extra.

Thorough thread about it all here...
Best deal on Arch EX 29 or Flow EX 29 wheelset?

I ended up grabbing a set of arch ex rims at the Stans website on sale--$44 per rim with the valve. Ill probably end up getting xt hubs with double butted spokes.
    Thanks for the info!
