Using EMS to speed recovery and gain strength?
I know of 2 E-stim units available and marketed towards athletes to speed recovery and gain strength. Has anyone used EMS themselves for either of these reasons and had measurable positive results from them? If you have, could you post some of the protocols that you have used to get these benefits. Thanks for your time.
I have used them under the supervision of a collegiate athletic training staff for a variety of injuries. I would recommend visiting someone qualified that uses them on a daily basis as such. In my experience they helped with how quickly I was able to come back an assortment of injuries (various leg contusions, multiple ac shoulder sprains, ankle sprains, back spasms, and a torn labrum) but in no way did I see any strength gains or anyone ever use them for general recovery.
