    Training question

Is it better to climb in higher gears on loose steep climbs if I can make it up 50% of the time....or use the granny and spin my way up (and make it up almost 100%)? At times I stall using the higher gears...but it almost feels like Iím cheating using the granny gear

I generally try to keep my cadence between 65 and 115, with ideally it being between 85 and 95 most of the time. It's whatever works for you. Some people are faster if they sit and spin, others are faster if they stand and mash. If you don't make it up a climb (stall out in too high of a gear), you obviously lose time vs. sitting and spinning and making it up.

If you're trying to build strength then use the largest gear you can.

Depends on the terrain for me, if it's technical I'll stand and hammer and if it's smooth I'll sit and spin.
