    Train with a cold?

Is it a good idea to continue to train / ride with a cold? Or is it better to hold off until healthy. I guess I want to know if training might prolong a cold.

    ...use the Neck test.

If cold symptoms exist above the neck (runny nose, scratchy throat), you're okay. Reduce intensity to easy, shorter rides till fully recovered. No intervals, hard group rides, etc.

If symptoms are below the neck (chest cold). Lay off the bike completely till recovered.

Good advice from Poncharelli. I've always found that with a cold it is a good idea to lay off the training for a couple of days, or until it starts to clear, otherwise it will linger and only have a negative effect on training anyway.
