    Timing options for club races?

Looking for any help or insight. My club is looking for new options for timing our weekly race series (between 3 and 6 laps of a course; around an hour). Right now we use a stopwatch and pen and paper. Looking for something a little easier and tech - friendly. Ideally we'd like some sort of timing app or program for a tablet, where names could be easily repeated week after week, and results uploaded to social media. Don't want to get into chips etc. What are folks out there using?

    What about something like this??

RaceSplitter - Race and split timer for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad though it does look a bit pricey at $35 for an app, but looks like it does everything you want...

I saw an interesting scoring technique at a race I did a few years ago in Mena, AR. As the riders crossed the line, they were funneled into a chute. Well, if more than a few finished relatively together. As you went through the chute, you were given a tab of paper with your race # and the time of day (not race time) written on it. You then took that piece of paper over to a sheet of plywood set up in the scoring/post-race party area. The board had columns for each category, you found your category and stapled your paper to the bottom of the existing column of previously stapled papers.

IF (BIG IF) you didn't go straight to the scoring board, you might find that someone who finished behind you had already stapled their paper. If you found papers with times later than your's, you just moved 'em down and stapled your's where it belonged, according to the time written on each of the slips. You could see almost immediately where you ranked in your category. If you were really curious about your elapsed time, you could figure it out based on the start time, or just get it off your GPS or whatever.

    No fuss, no muss.

    Timing options for club races?

Some of our local races use an app called webscorer. No idea on the cost. It does an ok job of uploading results to its website.
