Searching for a tubeless 29er tire for short track

    Hey all,
Short track is fun and I'm getting better. My tires are pretty worn though so I'm looking for an upgrade. I race in Portland, Oregon and our track has some grass and mostly hard pack dirt (it's a motocross course so some of the track is pretty churned up dirt & not real hard). I'm currently running Bontrager XDX front and Maxxis Cross Mark in the rear, wheels are Bontrager Rhythm Comp 29" tubeless. A friend runs the Racing Ralph's but they're kind of expensive. I read a good review of the Continental Race King's on twentynineinches.com. What are people running & how do you like 'em? Suggestions would be much appreciated!

    Cheers,
    Johnny

i race on Specialized tires. they aren't the cheapest but they are good.

lots of guys around here run the same setup on their 29ers that i use on my 26".

Sworks Fast Trak on the front, either Sworks or Control Renegade on the rear. if you are really harsh on tires (slicing sidewalls etc) then the Control tires are a bit more durable.

thanks whybotherme, i'll do some research on specialized tires. i really like most everything they make already.

if this post is in the wrong forum can an admin move it please? might be better off in the wheels & tires forum... thanks.

I love my RaRA, and did pretty well on a local short track race with them.

What about something like the Kenda Small Block 8, or Geax Barro (Race)?

You could try bontrager 29-1 or 29-2's. The 29-1 is like a small block with more side knobs, and the 29-2 has a little more grip for dirt berms and such, plus both would setup tubless very easily with your tlr wheels

Skerritt crushes everyone at PIR on Bontrager XR1's. Although it's probably not just because of the tires.
