    Schladming only hours away.

Arrrgh, only hours till Schladming and freecaster.tv is on the infinite wait to load a page schtick, I hope this isn't an indicator of things to come tonight

Mine's timing out. Let's hope they're doing server maintenance to get ready for the race coverage. If I'm going to get up at 2:10AM to watch I'd like there to be a race video available and not have to rely on the text play by play on Canadian Cyclist.

Mine's timing out too. I've not yet caught a live race on freecaster and was hoping to watch this one.

I wish they would "save" the replays of all the world cup races like they did for the world champs. Watching that at my leisure was a treat.

    No kidding.

I usually have the race video, Canadian Cyclist, and UCI live timing going.

But without freecaster it allmost isn't worth the brutal wake up.

So how do you think it will play out?

Despite it being the most boring course of the year I think both Catharine and Marie can do well on it. Both of them excel on steep climbs.

I know Catharine has good legs right now, but she has been having problems putting a race together. She did a good write up on Champery on her blog www.cpendrel.blogspot.com

I dunno, MHP has been sitting just about 5 minutes back of the leader at MSA, Canberra and Champery, with the last two being with the inhaler, so that may be where her fitness level is at with the asthma limiting her training up through mid-August. It has kept amongst the top 2-3 North American women even at that time finishing 10-13th. She has done very well at Schladming in the past. With any luck at all she'll nab a podium spot, but a medal is likely a big challenge with all those young Euro gals just hitting their peak. She is starting 6th so maybe she can stay ahead of the start loop bottleneck.

Despite Marie having a rough season since Madrid (where she grabbed a silver), she's still had a better season than Fullana, last year's World Champ. She hasn't DNF'd.

Yep she's making the tire knobs buzz on Osl's rear wheel. It would be great for Marie to have a good race to close out a tough season, it would set her up for a good off-season before 2010.

I see Kika (Catharine's nick name) has joined Marie. Hopefully they can work together to bring Osl in.

4 laps and 1:20 for a planned race distance? Why are World Cup races becoming STXC races?

Marie's staying with Catharine. She's riding fast and solid on these uphills.

This is the kind of Canadian dominance that's good to see. The gap on the climb seems pretty even for the top 3. I wish the damn director would stay on a camera shot for the first 3 riders so it was possible to time the gaps.

Marie's starting to slide back toward the chasing pack of 3.

Freecaster has turned back into "imagine if you will what's happening caster".

I'd actually pay money to watch if I could watch it without dropouts.

Well my free caster is down. Kika closing at all?

Never mind. I see you are having the same problem.

I understand technical gliches but at 3:00am I am not as sympathetic.

It would be nice if the UCI had at least 3 or 4 timing loops so you could get intervals around a course. Especially if Freecaster is going to be this flaky.

And now a DVD ad then a spinning thingie. It's not early in the morning there, they shouldn't have any excuse for being asleep at the server switch.

Another good ride by Evan today in the junior race. I am impressed that he did that well on this course.

He has the whole package, fitness and technical skills.

With any luck Marie can hang on to that last podium position, Irina isn't closing that fast. I'd like to see her pick off at least Szafraniec, but this is a short race for Marie, she does best at 90+ minute races. 6 seconds is well within Marie's overtaking range.

Looks like Osl is going to win convincingly. (missing worlds certainly worked for her)

It will be tight for Kika to hang on to 2nd. I think the group behind is closing a bit.

Emily's form has been slowly sliding since the spring. I don't know if she has gotten slower or others have gotten faster.

Her and her coach need to figure out what she needs to do to progress through the season.

Byberg snagged 2nd. Catharine 3rd and Marie held on to 5th, so she did grab a podium.

Not sure how it was for the riders, but it sure was a boring course to watch!

Video wasnt too consistent, but its free and I'm happy to get to watch any major mtb race.

It is the most disliked of all the world cup course.

Steep climbs flowed by steep grassy descents = no fun.

The season is a lot tougher for North Americans. Every race is a travel race, it wears on you as the season goes on.

I guess the Canadian National XC ski team was there watching the race and they were cheering like crazy. The got the MTB riders to sign a jersey for them. Pretty cool.

3 major race weekends in a row doesn't help either.

You almost had the impression that even Absalon wasn't all that heartbroken that he flatted.

It seems that Freecaster has posted a complete race if they have extremely flaky streaming coverage, as they did this morning, so they might post the whole race in a day or two. They must have some kind of contractual obligation to UCI to get the races out there and available to the larger public.

Elizabeth Osl makes Irina look like a body builder. She's more ballet dancer sized than bike racer, but I would have to say that she gets top marks for the best finish line dismount in recent memory.

Well Freecaster has posted the reel 26 minute Champery hilight reel

    http://freecaster.tv/mtb/1009527/nis...tes-highlights

I guess the Schladming hilight reel is about a week away.

Too bad the Freecaster feed is as flaky for the hilights as the race.
