Today Iņaki Lejarreta(Orbea)was hit by a car while training, and died after attempts of resuscitation on site by paramedics.
Iņaki was one of the best spanish mountain bikers, junior silver medal in Sierra Nevada 2000, Junior World Champion in Vail 2001, 8th in Beijing Olympics, and other great results were among his palmares.
To make things even worse, he was going to be father next january.
Apart from all these things, what everyone will remember of him is that he was a really nice guy, he left a deep void in our sport.
Rest in peace Iņaki, we'll miss you.
horrible to read this news, so much tragedy happening this month.
Really sad news. Lejarreta was a great mountain biker. My heart goes out to his wife and family.
Its a god damn shame things like this still happen!
I almost went down the same road myself last week when I got hit by a car, but I walked away pretty much unharmed, I was lucky. Drivers need to be punished harder imo, its not acceptable on any level. I don't know how to make people pay attention but its desperately needed.
Rule #9 // If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass

Deep sadness thinking how important this was for him, and how this little girl won't have the opportunity to know her father.
This has to stop, we can't have more of our own killed.
So sad to read this, right on the heel of the Stander's death. RIP.
