    Recovery Compression

Does anyone have experience with compression tights/shorts/leg sleeves for recovery?
    Thoughts?

I use calf guards after a hard run and am rarely sore the next day.

Friel has covered this in his blog and found the results to be equivocal. I know people who use compression garments though and they like them. I think if you can get a decent deal they're worth a shot. If nothing else, you'll get a decent base layer out of them.

yeah, everyone is different. I use them daily and really think they work for me. I have "The Recovery Sock" by Vitalsox. I've heard negative things about the 'calf guards', as blood would tend to pool in the feet, and not circulate back up toward the heart.

Try some out. It's worth the $30 or whatever they are.

I started using an Under Armor compression underlay er on top and like it. It's super light, wicks well, and seems to help on longer days in the saddle. Ive even worn it to work(laying carpet) and it seems to help n those long days as well.

I use compression socks after long races/rides brings the swelling down, and for that alone it's worth it.

I've used a variety of compression gear over the last few years (Skins, 2Xu, and more recently and extensively 110% Play Harder compression gear with ice sheets - mobile ice bath!).

My experiences the past year or so are only with 110%, but I'm loving the gear. I initially got their Juggler Knickers and use those post training rides with the ice sheets, especially when away from home. Nice especially in summer to cool off the body and muscles I think. I've been wearing the knicks to work out in the gym lately not specifically for compression purposes, but it's nice to just have a pair of pants without buying something new!

I was running and recovering in the calf sleeves as well.

Does it help me recover faster? n=1 and no science to back it up, but I *like* to use compression gear to help my muscles. It "feels" good to me when I wear them, so for me it is worth it. YMMV.

That's hard to do on the drive back from racing.
