    Newbie power questions

Just started training with power, far too long having avoided it. Got a couple of questions that are probably silly, but would appreciate the advice:

When trying to hold Zone 2 on a long ride, do you stay with Z2 power and let heart rate decouple in the later hours?

Secondly, in measuring FTP and watts/kg, do you weigh yourself with no clothes on or in full gear?

Yes. The decoupling will get better with more time on the bike.

There is really no standard for weighing. But most professional tester just weigh you in your cycling kit with no shoes.

    Newbie power questions

I'd ignore heart rate altogether and stick to your zone 2 for power output. If you use more smoothing on the head unit (3,5,10 seconds etc) then it will give you a more stable power figure to pace yourself with. If you use un-smoothed power output on the head unit the watts displayed becomes far more jumpy and inconsistent.

If you're weighing yourself at home then I'd just wear light underwear, rather than full riding gear.

The main thing with tracking bodyweight is to be consistent, weigh yourself at the same time of day bearing in mind that you can see large fluctuations between different times of day, and also between days.
