    A good X/C race 2.2?

Hey folks, I need a little tire knowledge dropped on me. I have come to the conclusion that my Panaracer Dart (front), smoke (rear) 2.1 s are not cutting it on a hard tail Kona Kula. Here's why. I ride in MN in frequent single track that is wet, muddy with tons of roots and glacier rock. The Panaracer 2.1 s measure more like 1.9 s and I am tired of limited traction. I weigh 175 and would like to increase tire volume in order to drop to sub 30 psi in wet stuff. I currently never ride below 35 psi due to the threat of pinch flats. I am looking for a good 2.2 that is race ready and good in my conditions for under $50 each. Thanks for your help.

I've been riding the Conti Race King Supersonics for the past year at a 2.2. They are a little more than $50 a piece if you find them online but well worth it. I'm 180lbs and ride at 34-35psi but I like my tires firmer typically. To be honest, your chance of pinching depends on your rim too. I'm riding with ZTR Olympics which are specifically designed to reduce the chance of pinch flats.
