Cool-blue Rhythm could these be used as Xc-racers for beginner

    have question bought xc-bikes.
1st off what makes an xc bike?
and would these bikes serve as such?
Rockhopper[basic], Gary fisher Pirhana, and the Gt 1.0 avalanche.

which of these would be the better bike?

    thanks

The Fisher appears to have better components and a better fork than the basic J3 found on the Rockhopper and the GT.

You could use those sorts of bikes as a beginning racer's bike - just put some lighter tyres on if need be and away you go.

I think the term "XC" is referring to a bike used to cover reasonably easy tracks / trails in the quickest time possible - like a race track. As opposed to "trail" bikes that are more intented for rough and tumble, technical riding - hopping logs, rocks, small jumps, drop offs etc. The whole bike definition thing gets a bit blurred when people use bikes for different purposes to what they are "supposed" to be used for - a light hardtail used as an all around trail riding bike, a DH bike used for trail riding, etc.
    Less isn't MOAR
