So for the past 4 years I have been doing Endurance racing....12 hour solos/6 hour races and the Shenandoah 100 every year. I want to transision back to XC racing. I made the switch from XC over to Endurance 4 years ago. I did a short track XC race back in June and got 5th out of 32 so I guess I was doing something right.

Few questions.

Base Miles I know they add up but doing 70-80 mile rides in Jan-Feb is it nessacary for shorter races? I plan on racing sport again this year.

Intervals. I did a regular 50 mile hammerfest road ride this season it paid off big time for me. What would I want to focus on for XC shorter harder bursts? 2-5 min intervals?

I'll be riding the same bike Air9 Scandium XO/XTR. I may swap my big ring 36 out for a 39 or 40 would make sense to do so I assume.
