BMX Racing for Training for SS Racing

I started racing BMX for the first time last year (at age 37...my four year old daughter wanted to try it, and now it's a family thing) and it's gotten me all excited about riding and racing the XC and road bikes again.

Anyone have any experience doing combined workouts or putting together combined training regimens? I was just thinking that my power workouts would be on the track once today's stupid snow thaws... One day of power workouts and multi-lap work and one day of racing followed by (or proceeded by) a long road ride.

    Thoughts? Experiences?

I would think working in long steady type workouts at threshold to work on muscular endurance (2x20 @ LTHR) or go train on XC trails or something like this article

Endurance takes the longest amount of time to train.

    Per Joe Friel:
Mountain biking requires Muscular endurance & Anaerobic endurance

You are getting plenty of anaerobic work with bmx

How many days a week to train? How much time per day?

I take it you are thinking about Cat 3 where races are usually about 1 hour max?

well, I never raced bmx but if I was racing SS I'd train and ride SS as much as possible.
Specificity as they say.......seated climbs and lots of intervals are key IMO
need to be able to recover quickly and put the hammer down again....and repeat

Is there a reason why you are doing SS? I'm probably wrong, but most (all?) SS racers I know have been riding/racing XC for a few years.
