Best song you'd like to have in your head during a fast section of a race...

Ok, so this has to rank up there with one of my all time lamest threads...However, I just had a conversation with someone about my second passion (music) and wonder to the racing community what song you feel is the best song to have in your head in a race...

I have mine (Iron Maiden, Number of The Beast)...anyone else?

Everchanging by Rise Against. It was featured in ROAM.

When under pressure, your level of performance will sink to your level of preparation.

Hmmm. "Like to have" and "actually have" are, unfortunately, very different things... I'd like to have a raging tune from Between The Buried And Me or Zao or something in my head when racing.

Usually, however, I somehow get stuck with something extremely mellow and/or just annoying - i.e., Fleetwood Mac, Over The Rhine, or (worst-case scenario) Britney Spears. Gag. Nothing like trying to pass a guy when "Toxic" just won't leave you alone.

    Great selections all!
I feel your pain on the bad songs in your head...A buddy one year came up to me before a race and kept saying "Thumpety thump thump Thumpety thump thump...look at frosty gooooo"...and wouldnt you know it, it stuck and halfway up the first major climb Frosty waddled his way into my head and the song stuck for the duration.

I believe 3 time world TT champion Michael Rogers once blamed a sub-par performance on one of his kid's favourite songs getting lodged in his brain in the middle of a major time trial!

Good songs never get stuck in my head while racing. Its always just one or two lines from an average song ... not a bad one, but just some silly 80's song. The more irritating the song, the faster I ride so I can get the race over with and the song out of my head.

    True that!

My suggestion: Hardfloor - Mahogany roots. I like rock, but techno/dance always gets me going more when exercising.

either a couple of songs from the Metallica black album or Pantera Cowboys from Hell.

When I am riding alone and one of these songs comes up on my random shuffle on my Iphone I have a rule that I increase my speed by 2mph wherever I am until the song is over.
