You mention looks and ventilation, but don't neglect fit. Common wisdom is that one or the other brand, Bell or Giro, tends to fit better than the other for an individual.

Bell helmets fit me. Giro helmets are not as comfortable for me

Decision should be made purely based on fit. Try both on.

I use a bell because it fits me. I would suggest the helmet that fits the best, really nothing else matters. most high end helmets will all be light and have good ventalation, but will be built to fit a different shape head.

1+ for trying them on. I'm an E2 guy, but that's what fit's me. Honestly, In a double blind test you could not tell a difference in "ventilation" between any modern helmet. Fit is the deciding factor. That being said you can find E2's for 60-ish on the web, tough to beat for the price.

    Sweep

Yeah, what they said is right on, i wear a bell, for fit and i like the rear melon adjustment on the bell, i really don't like the roc-loc or whatever is called on the Giro's... my 2 pesos
