    Aerobic capacity training

    I've been recovering from a bad knee injury and a couple of surgeries. I've recently turned a corner. During my recovery short, intense efforts (intervals, hills < 10 min) have been limited by my leg strength, but now I've reached the point where my lungs run out before my legs. How should my training change to best adapt to being aerobic limited?

    What type of volume are you doing? If it's a sufficient amount, try adding in tempo, sweet spot or threshold intervals. 8-12 minute work intervals with rest intervals half (4-6 min). If you haven't completed at least 3 months of aerobic base building, you should continue there though. Regardless, you can do both, just focus on Base and sprinkle in the other more intense stuff.

    Caveat: I'm not a coach, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night!
