Secondary benefits of mountain biking
I was at a holiday party this weekend when one of my co-workers gave me a nice a$$ slap. (We are in health care, we break the rules of appropriate behavior on a daily basis.)
She said "Hey, you have on some Spanx, don't you?"
Nope, my ass is really that firm.

96 views and no one has anything to add? This makes me sad.
Maybe I sounded like an arrogant vain hoser? Cuz I'm not.

I'm totally cool with girls slappin the booty. However, I'm sure most of us feel a little creepy lurking in the women's forum for mountain biking a reading about girls slapping booty...
Cheers!

Well, you are officially a creeper. I just thank the gods you are on the other side of this vast continent, because otherwise I would be unable to sleep tonight.
heehee
Maybe the other wimmenz are doing woman stuff like Christmas shopping. I may or may not have had my woman card taken away from me for my failures.

Cute. There are just so many dozens of "secondary benefits." Spanx level ass hardness isn't really unique to my mountain biking habit, road riding does it good too, so I think of things like, oh, being a chick amongst a sea of dudes. Conquering fears. Having adventures in the forest, on a rad machine, instead of the shopping mall. Etc.

It's sad that some women think you have to have a spanx assist to have a firm ass.

Not at all, just not familiar with the Spanx. Think I am getting the picture now.

Really good balance.
Someone was amazed that at the advanced age of 52, I could stand on one foot and pull a sock on the other foot.

It's the modern version of a girdle.

It's weird, but MTBing has developed some serious arm muscles. I didn't realize what a workout my arms are getting.
Jamis Dakar XC Comp

Well, good. There is a skill I can hope for...I just turned 48, and I'm a one-foot-hopper. I can get the sock on, but not without a struggle.

i can flex my ass and scratch glass with it.
actually, there is a layer of blubber on top of the muscle, but hey i'm female. however, if i flex it, you could rest a beer on the shelf
good to see some humor in the vimminz lounge.

Yoga is good for that too
For me, the secondary benefits are stress relief and a good night's sleep. I always have a quieter mind when my body is worn out.
Ride that angry bike like you STOLE it!

Ok I'll bite...a few years back (or more than a few) a friend of my then-BF was sitting close to where I was standing at a summer party. He reached out and squeezed my ham just above the back of my knee and said "stop flexing".
Me: "I'm not."
Him: "Whoa!"

I've noticed the same since starting mtb (and am same age). Balance was always my Achilles heel in yoga. The yoga helped, but the progression was not as dramatic as since starting riding (and now realize have really cut back on the yoga - need to fix that). Must be the more dynamic nature of it. In fact I did a circuit class this morning with my SIL and was surprised how well I was able to do the moves while on a Bosu.
Stripes...+1 on the idea of getting my butt firm enough to be slap worthy!

my adult son gave me "bonus cool mom points" on a facebook photo of me riding an easy ladder.
