Ergo grips are very good for remembering not to have a death grip on the bar. They're not good for doing anything for jumping. I'm trying to relearn to jump and it's really difficult for me to rotate my hands around them.
No problems for downhills, climbing or otherwise. I have them now on my hardtail, which is my distance/climbing bike.
When you do get them, bring a hex wrench with you on the first few rides. You'll definitely be adjusting them a lot.
Hey Stripes, great stuff... good luck on your training. I did follow on removing SPD and trying platforms, it worked fine.
