    Help me upgrade my ladyfriend!

Help me upgrade my ladyfriend! Well....I mean her bike!!! She is just fine the way she is

She is on an old grip shift hardtail 15" Specialized hardrock and I have been wanting to get her something nicer and squishier for a while. Unfortunately, as a social worker, I cant afford it. Luckily, I just found out that I will be getting a $1000 bonus at work today!!!!

I am more than happy to spend my entire bonus on her but unfortunately, this still limits our options. I would like to get her a full squish but I know this can be hard (but not impossible) at this price. We ride mostly on the XC side of All-mountain. I would be good with anything between 100-140mm of travel and hopefully can get some front and rear lock out but I know this is relative to money. I personally lucked out and found my Kona Tanuki Deluxe on clearance for 975. I am hoping that someone has seen a similar deal for a ladies bike that I could buy my GF.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!!!!

You don't have to get a "ladies bike." Many of us here don't ride "ladies bikes."

Just find something that's within that price that fits her that she likes. Keep looking for deals, as a lot of bike shops have old stock they'll be willing to work a deal on. It might not happen quickly, but with a lot of bike shops looking to replace annual stock this time of year, you might be in luck.

    Good luck!

I hope you actually get $1000; my recent $500 award was only $280 in the bank by the time they took taxes out.

    That bike looks nice

Sell the hard tail and use the extra $ to upgrade the bike... eg seat, pedals or anything else

This is definitely the plan. I just talked to the owner, we are gonna check it out tonight. I'm excited for her to get a legit trail bike!

Yeah I'm worried about that. I am expecting around $700 after taxes so that makes the craiglist find a good fit :-)
