    A good "How-To" video

Just saw this on You Tube. A very nice explanation of body position on the bike.

Pretty nice. I like the little diagram she made. I take issue with "butt behind the seat" terminology. I consider that to be old school terms because really, the body is more extended up than back and it's shifting of the hips that determines where the center of gravity is. If you look at the pause section of the downhill video, her saddle is in line with her knees, which demonstrates nice leg extension and the hips shifted back" perfect. When I hear "Butt behind the saddle" I picture the old school way of doing it with butt over the tire, chest over the saddle, and arms extended. I think it's good to compare these two styles as the old "butt behind the saddle" way is incredibly unstable with the front of the bike unweighted, and the way she demos is so much more stable it's like night and day.
So I'm being picky about terminology - but the illustrations are terrific.

I've been mountain biking all over the world for well over 20+ years and this is a great, fun approach and illustration. Yes, I agree, the butt behind the saddle is old school but it certainly accomplished the idea well for a very long time. The idea certainly is to get your center of gravity back and as low as possible to get the line of gravity in that happy medium place.

Thanks for finding that, very nice way to illustrate it.
