    Daughters first hardtail

Plan to buy my 9 year old daughter her first real mountain bike for Christmas. She has ridden the 14" fire, which was a hair big but totally manageable. Both the Marin and Specialized offer a 13" frame. I can get each bike for roughly the same price (with disc brakes). Anyone have advice on how to decide which to go with? Looking for a long term answer as I am willing to bet she will grow into it by summer at the latest.

FYI - she is almost to big for the 24". If I bought one I would have to replace in 6-12 months. She has proven she can peddle the 26" tires... and I like the fact she will have it for at least two years

Just got our 10yo daughter (who is very petite and more like the size of an average 9yo) onto a specialized hard tail last month. The 13" frame is a great fit for her.

Got her the Kona Fire Mountain in XS. Added HT lime green flats and matching lizard skin grips... Interesting combo on the gold frame but I think she will love it.

Post a pic once you give it to her. I'm sure she'll love it.

Lucky girl! The green accents are a nice touch. You may already have this covered, but it's so nice I would make sure she uses a good lock if she leaves it anywhere.

Jamis has 10" and 12" frame hardtails. Their full suspensions begin at a 13" size.
