Another 3 days of 20% off.
Not a bad deal for Chargers (Flow) and Black Flag (Arch) $223 shipped.
Includes axle adapters, tubless valves/tape/sealant too!

I finally got my chargers mounted up and I am very impressed. The quality seems good. They are substantially stiffer than my stock Specialized wheels (19mm). The engagement of the hub is much better, no more freewheeling when I start pedaling. The tire profile is wider and the sidewall is more vertical. The only real question I have left is how well they are going to hold up.

I don't think I could have found a better upgrade for ~$200 on an entry level bike. They will probably go with me to my next bike as well.

Is the 20% off just a timing thing? Because I'm not seeing it.

Re: Sun Ringle 29er Comp deals

Its right on Nashbar's home page. Presidents Day sale 20% off all orders. There is a code listed. Enter the code at checkout.

As others have mentioned, this is a great deal!! Where else can you find a tubeless compatible wheelset where the front can be converted to QR, 15 or 20mm and comes with all the accessories you need for that price?

    Sun Ringle 29er Comp deals

Chargers are a bit heavier but more suited for all mountain. The black flags are more XC oriented.

They also have a bargain 1600g 700 road wheelset for $191 shipped if that is what you are into.
Way to come through with the deals Nashbar.

Will I have any problems going tubless with either set? I'm thinking it just might be easier to get the heavier of the two for the sake of durability/long term use.

The ease of tubeless setup is dependent on the tires you use, Maxxis EXO tires work great on my Flow/Arch wheels. (YMMV with other tires). The wider Charger rims will give more sidewall support to large volume tires run at low psi.

I mainly just meant between the two sets. And it looks like one comes with sealant/valves and the other doesn't...so that's why I was curious.

    Sun Ringle 29er Comp deals

Anybody know the weight and engagement? Specs online are all over the place. Will they setup as well as the current Crests with regular old tires?

Re: Sun Ringle 29er Comp deals

I'd be willing to bet both the Black Flags and Chargers come with all the accessories you need (taped, valves, sealant, etc). No idea on actual weight and for the price, who cares. They're not going to be super light, but probably lighter than most stock wheels. I thought I read that engagement was 72 POE, but I get 30 clicks per revolution. I don't know if those really mean the same thing?

Ordered a set of the Chargers....could NOT resist. Not the lightweight wheel set I had my eye on, but they're certainly going to be lighter and stiffer than the OE set, and at less than half the price of what I would have spent, I can DEFINITELY deal with this set for quite some time. Can't wait to get them in! Thanks for the heads up on this deal. +rep

Got them in today and everything switched over. Going to inflate the tires in the am... Shaved 2.07 lbs off of my stock wheels. Super excited. My wife says the hubs are "obnoxious"... Lol

If your wife thinks the Sun Ringle hubs are obnoxious...don't ever get Hope, Kings, I9, etc. I thought my Charger Experts were not too bad all things considered. But compared to Shimano hubs, yea they're louder.

BTW-the Comp hub is in fact a 3 pawl, 30 poe freehub.

That's what I told her. I actually like the sound. My OEM hub sounded "waxy"... Looking forward to not only the weight savings and more aggressive tires (trying out some Duro Switch tires) but also the stiffness.

In case anyone is interested, Nashbar is running a 21 percent off sale today and tomorrow. This should put the Chargers at about $195 and the black flags at about $220.

Are you finding some way around the oversize/overweight shipping? I get $220.47 and $252.97 shipped for the Charger and Black Flags respectively. The Black Flags were $249.99 yesterday. They keep raising and lowering them. The extra 1% netted about 2 bucks for me.

You would need to add shipping to the prices. They do not seem to run the 20 percent sale and free shipping at the same time. A friend of mine was looking to buy a pair of Chargers and I had check periodically, but not yesterday so I did not realize that the sale was on yesterday. Sorry if my previous post was misleading. This is the lowest price I have seen on the Chargers and I doubt if you are going to get a lower price in the future.

    Sun Ringle 29er Comp deals

Coupon's going again, so I went for the Chargers. Was going to get more Stan's/Hope from the UK, but this was such a good deal and I won't have mess around with tape removal/install. The free duty era also seems to be winding down on UK stuff too.
