A shout out to Universal Cycles

I just wanted to throw out some public kudos to my favorite online vendor. Not only do they stock just about everything and display stock status online, they're just a bunch of great people. I placed an order earlier this week with 3 day shipping which apparently got delayed. Not only did they email me daily with updates, they upgraded me to overnight shipping free of charge to ensure I would be riding this weekend. Be sure to use VIP10/VIP15 coupon codes for 10% off orders over $150 or 15% off orders over $300.

Your order is scheduled to ship tomorrow. UPS has a delayed package that was supposed to come today. I have upgraded your shipping to Overnight. So, it will ship tomorrow and you will still receive it on Friday. Please, if you have any questions, just let us know. Thanks,

Love, love, love them. Theyíve been great to work with and responsive to all my questions. The coupons are great, and price match well. I will say Iíve been recently shopping more on stores connected with Activity Junky, but if Iím looking for small parts I always go Universal first.

They've never disappointed me, and I've probably made at least 30 orders. Their real time inventory and same day shipping is the benchmark for the industry.

While I agree that they have a lot of stuff listed, and it makes it easy to find RockShox service parts....they just seem slow compared to other vendors. I have placed several smaller orders with them over time.

I placed an order late on Friday, didn't ship til Tues, won't get it until Friday. That is from Portland to So. Cal.

Whereas I placed an order from Backcountry at 5:00 Monday afternoon, it was delivered yesterday morning. That was from Salt Lake City to So. Cal.
I resolve to constantly assert my honest opinion on anything and everything - whether it is requested or not.

Yep. If you are looking for small parts or not so widely sold stuff, chances are you can find it on their site. I just ordered everything I need to swap over to an oval chainring from them, new crankset, the ring, and small spacers to adjust chainline, all one-stop shopping.

Instead of them just having the big stuff available, and then scouring the web for someone stocking the appropriate BB spacers, and additional shipping costs.

Had a wheelset built by them years ago, and the thing is still going strong and has been absolutely flawless.

So expensive though! The UK sites are way less expensive, even after handling fees.

I'll hit up Chain Reaction for a full set of brakes or Hope hubs, but I've found them to be quite competitive for all the other stuff and the selection makes them my go to.

My geographical handicap (at least when it comes to deals) might be the problem.

    I'm doing a couple of builds right now. Here is an example;

    Campy Zonda Wheelset:
UC, $685 USD, $169 USD shipping Canada Post
Ribble, $436 CAD inc shipping Canada Post, $29 tax and handling (arrived in a week)

(I'm not even factoring the free paid of Conti GP folding tires and tubes)

The Athena groupset I bought was 50% less (Merlin), The Tompson stems and posts I bought from Chain Reaction were in $CAD what a lot of people ask for them used in the classifieds. Then there are coupons and free shipping offers...

This is all in CAD. With the mighty USD you guys are getting crazy deals.

Wow! Yeah, I see what you mean. Not that this changes the balance, but keep in mind that Universal cycles has coupon codes for 10% off over $150 USD and 15% off over $300.

Agreed with everything everyone is saying. I drove down from Seattle to pick up a bike that was on crazy discount. Everyone working was very friendly. My salesman really knew nothing about my bike but he gave me 100% attention and that speaks volumes for a bike shop.

EDIT: The salesman just didn't know everything about the dropouts on the Salsa Fargo. I don't blame him.

I agree these guys are great. The best thing is the online inventory. Second best is the pricing.

Just use VIP10 or VIP15, those codes always work regardless of the current codes that give the exact same discount.
