Thanks for the post! If I plan to run a single 32t ring, should I get the 2 or 3 ring?
C'mon lets go for a whirl.

I would get the 3 ring because you can get it with a 32t middle. 3 ring also allows you to add a bashguard.

    Thanks OP! In 4 1.

Seems like a really good deal. I like that the 3X crank is available in 26X36X48. Drop the 48, add a bash, change the 26 to a 24...24X36XBash. Perfect with 36T 10spd cassettes on a 29er or 34T 9spd cassettes on a 26er.

    Ordered. Thanks OP.

Does anybody have an opinion on which of these would work best with the new Wolftooth single rings? Double or triple?

I believe that a 3x10 is a slightly better option to convert to a 1x10 than a 2x10 is based on optimal chainline. Replacing the middle ring of a triple should (somebody correct me if I'm wrong) put the chain right in the middle of the cassette.

Both are 64/104, 2 ring is just the 'outer' is the same as the middle position on the 3 ring. A chain ring mounted outer/inner will have the same line. Shimano exploded diagrams:

    m670 / 3 ring

    m675 / 2 ring

If you want a bash 3, if you want a clean look 2..

Actually not correct. The position is 1.3mm further outboard on the M785.

Chainline of M785 is 48.8mm, which is the center plane between the two rings, which places the larger of the two rings at 51.3mm from bike center.

Chainline of M780 is 50mm, measured at the middle ring.

Keep in mind that the 30T ring from Wolf is offset inboard by 2.5mm (I'm going off memory here, correct me if wrong) to accommodate the threaded holes and chain clearance.

Against all this is a theoretical "ideal" chainline of 45mm (center of cassette). If that is your dominant careabout, then the triple crank is a better choice. Or if you want to run a bash, as Khing noted, the triple is better.

The one reason I can think to choose the double cranks is if you intend to run a pretty large (~38T) Wolf ring. On some frames, the larger rings may have frame clearance issues in the middle position of a triple.

Nice catch, I thought they were like the M66X series, just w/o a bash on the '5'.
