    Larry@Mtnhigh Cyclery Still Around?

His website is up but when I call the number listed, it says disconnected. His prices listed for his wheelbuilds are killer.

    Is he still around?

Call chad at red barn bicycles in Montana. Just as cheap as Larry was and 100% honest. His wheel builds are killer too.

Was a Larry customer for years and just did a great transaction with Chad including some custom wheels.

Larry is done! Bad personal gunk and economy were too much. It really is too bad. He seemed to be a good guy and great resource.

Another recommendation for Chad at Red Barn. Service is top notch, prices are spot on and he is just a downright good dude. You cant go wrong.

Is Chad cheaper than the local bike shop?

Unless your local shop is Red Barn, probably. Also, much more knowledgable than nearly any LBS. I have dealt with Chad since 2004. I had one order where there was a minor mistake and he went way beyond what was necessary to correct it.

Another recommendation for CHAD at Red Barn! Great wheel builds, knowledge, reputation and a very nice guy.

As for Larry, don't even bother considering. Read the thread linked above in Post #3.

Once, I broke two side-by-side spokes on my rear wheel that Chad built. I rode it out...for 24ish miles (finished one ride, and did another). I don't ride good lines, either...

Let's just say the LBS asked who built the wheel when the wrench put it on the stand and saw it spin straight as the day it was built. Hell, I'm still running the front 5.1d that he built back in 2006.

I'm not saying it is the norm, but my wheels from Chad have held up better than any wheels I've owned, to the point where I sent him my hub for a new build a few weeks ago. It was cheaper than the LBS and the quality is spot-on.

Did I mention that he loves to build wheels? Really, really enjoys it?

+1 more for Chad. Beat the LBS by $300 on a custom build and the set is really nice. Had a small issue and he took car of it. Great honest guy.
