I bought a pair and put them my wife's Trek a yr ago. She loves them and they are still going strong and she won't let me put anything else other than Pythons on her bike.

The blackwall tires are the lower end ones. I believe they have the lower TPI casing, and were made more cheaply than the rust sidewall ones. A lot higher failure rate from people I have talked to.

$12 for tires is still not bad, but I have routinely seen the rust ones for $15.

Nice all around XC tires. I would say they are second only to the Panaracer Fire XC Pros.

I ride the Mythos for my daily tire and have no complaints. Light enough and just enough bite without alot of rolling resistence.

The black sidewall version is not for rocky trails. I tore mine up in short order. Great traction though.

I'm gonna join in and give props to the IRC Mythos line. I have a pair of Mythos XC tires that have never disappointed. And I also have a pair of Mythos Slick tires (inappropriately named, if you ask me - more like Semi-Knobby) that roll great on the road and still have enough traction to take a bit of lite trail work.

    Thrilled with these tires.

Another vote for the IRC XC Slicks- which are also avail from PP. I prefer the XC Slicks (really semi-knobby like he said)- they are fast on hardpack, OK on asphalt, and passable when it's mildly sloppy. So far these are my fav all-around MTB tire.

    More props for Mythos

I am on my second pair right now. Tried some Larson TTs between, which were OK, but decided to go back to a tire that just seems to work well in the conditions I ride the most. Not only are they inexpensive, but they have worn really well for me.
