Depends on the destination, and the size and weight of the box.

You can check costs and restrictions online with most shippers.

if you can get the box under 108 inches length plus girth, you can ship it to most countries between 70 to 100 bucks.

some countries will have a 78 inch limit, such as Singapore.

    usps.com gives accurate quotes.

I have also shipped via shipbikes.com. very reliable, but its a drop off pick up arrangement. much more secure, specially for high value bikes. costs more.

If my box is 40L x 24H x 10W then its over that? Sorry I'm terrible at math and the dimension concepts. Where and how much should I chop the box?

You're exactly 108 inches. I'd cut a couple of inches off the length if u can. My local post office will ding me for a quarter inch over. But if its already packed, just bring it on over. The process is pretty painless.

As I said before, most countries will take 108 inches, but not all. Most bikes will be under 40 pounds packed. Just plug in your dimensions at USPS.com and you should have a good idea what it's going to cost you

Thanks. US Postal's Express Mail International seems reasonable to N. Zealand. But what is:
Max. length 36", max. length plus girth 79" ? I guess I should call them and confirm. Funny how I only entered a weight, it didn't ask for dimensions only this.

Express mail is the most expensive option. Try Priority.

Lenght plus (H+W)x2 is the formula. Looks like NZ is 79 inches max, not 108. Good luck.

Luggage forward. Used them to ship from US to Singapore.
A trophy bike is easier to maintain than a trophy car. Both are easier to maintain than a trophy wife.
