I recently got some decent deals on BikeBling.com for some XT Discs, Zee Derailleur, Maxxis Tires, etc..... When I ordered a couple items had a "1 to 3 day wait" listed. Well, we are going on 2 weeks this Friday and nothing has shipped! I used an old promo code I found here (which has since been disabled after I used it) and got a great deal, but I'm waiting forever! Anyone else had this experience with BikeBling.com?
After a short call with customer service I was given a hefty discount on Saint shifters (the Zee's were on backorder) and upgraded to 3day shipping at no cost. Nice!
So on the upside, their customer service is good.....
They're a big brick and mortar store who also does a lot of web business. The web store doesn't have a live inventory. I've ordered from them many times, but always over the phone, so that I can confirm whether they have the items in stock.
I cancelled an order which was claimed "ships in 1-3 days" or something.....it became 2.5 months and I had enough. The screaming deal was not worth it. Not like I ordered a carbon 29er superbike autographed by Tinker, Tomac and Wiggins: it was a RaceFace 30T chainring!
They're local to me. Cool shop that has a ton of crap in stock. I just recently 'ordered' something from them that was not in stock... we will see how long it takes... I don't have a lot of confidence.
Check stock on universal cycles. If it exists there (which is live inventory from QBP), then bike bling can get it within a few days. If universal doesn't have it, chances are nobody does.
Thanks for the input y'all. It was a pain, BikeBling took a while to let me know which items were on backorder (they actually didn't let me know rather, I had to call)... BUT they did " make it right" with their customer service once I called (upgraded a part, faster shipping, etc...).
Hmm, good to know! I already placed an order and was notified within a day or so it had shipped, didn't say anything about certain items being on backorder. I'm planning another order soon, I better call to check stock first it sounds like. Thanks for the heads up!
Great shop to you walk in, with lots of small widgets (and sweet, upscale bikes as well) and stuff to look at and make decisions, but I rarely online shop there, and the lack of a "reliable" inventory system is one of the reasons. I love Universal, as they've always shipped within their times online. It really helps me that their standard, free shipping is basically overnight to my address.
I have a love/hate relationship with BBling. I'm of the mindset that if you buy a product online, it needs to be in stock, or you need to know immediately what the wait time is. Just like if you were standing in the store.
Bought a pair of Dura Ace 9000 wheels from bike bling. Never emailed me about that fact that they didn't have any in stock. Promised me several times that the wheels are coming. Canceled the order after a month waiting. Wasted so much of my time. Ordered from Planet x and got them in less than a week.
Not sounding too good as I was looking at placing an order with them. At least they should let you know within a couple days if any items are on backorder.
I've had back order issues with Jenson too. They'll hold up a big order for a $2 part just to minimize shipping charges. Still like them however. Arts is coming out strong with constant coupons and same hour shipping. Others better watch out.
Everything they list as shipping in 1-3 days just means they don't have it in stock and it will drop ship or something. It doesn't take into account whether or not their supplier actually has it in stock either so it's basically a lie.
They are responsive to talk to but I wish they would not mislead customers with teh 1-3 day bullshiz.
I tried ordering a fox fork from them a few years back. After being told it was coming in "this week" 5 different times, I cancelled my order. Never get any of my business again.
A few weeks ago I bought some Trail Skin knee pads from them and they arrived relatively quick. Jenson is where I order most of my stuff from, but depending on the part I'd order from Bike Bling again.
I like Bike bling...
I once ordered a TLD A1 helmet and when it arrived it had a couple chips in the visor...
I called and spoke to a guy named Rob???
he was AWESOME and shipped me out a replacement immediately
I asked how he wanted me to ship the chipped one back and he told me to keep it
