your thoughts on Halo Supa Drive rear hub?

I had recently replaced my tacoed front wheel with Stan's Flow Rim and Halo Spin Doctor.

For the future rear wheel replacement, I am thinking about mating Stan's Flow Rim with either Hope Pro II or Halo Supa Drive. For those of you having experience with both hubs, what are your thoughts on each?

btw, I ride XC in SF South Bay Area.

I broke a Supa drive hub after short period of use - addmitta\edly i was using it on a SS with a wide based cog and the drive ring started spinning in the hub shell. Halo was good about the warranty, but I opted to buy a King instead of building it back up.

Hope's seem to be bullet proof, Halo's maybe not so much...get the Hopes!

I rode with a guy once who had them (I couldn't help but notice as they might be the most obnoxious sounding hubs I've ever heard) and he said he was on his second hub as the first one failed within a few weeks.

I'd either go Hope Pro 2 (4 pawl, 24 poe) or Halo Spin Doctor Pro (3 pawl, 30 poe) for durability.

Guys from LBS are saying that they had absolutely no problem with Halo Supa Drive. One of them is a big guy over 6 feet and over 200 lbs. I've gone from 185 lbs to 160 lbs, so I'm pretty sure that I am much easier on the wheels than these guys. On top of being fairly light, I don't think I abuse my bike as I rarely use more than 60mm of 100mm-fork when I'm riding.

I like how my bike feels with Flow Rim. Perhaps, it's the wide rim changing the footprint of the tire?

That said, I'm leaning towards Hope. I've been looking online and I've found two.

    ($347.75 shipped)

    http://www.jensonusa.com/store/produ...tom+Wheel.aspx (rear=$395, w/ tax and shipping = $432.51)

What's the difference between Pro 2 and Pro 3?

    I found another from Wiggle,
    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/hope-hoops-p...ear-mtb-wheel/. ($281.67 shipped)

Am I missing something? Why is it that British online sites have it MUCH cheaper than the US sites or LBS?

Keep in mind hope is a brit company, and their products are made in the uk. That probably why they are so much cheaper there.

It was in US currency. Price is cheaper, no tax, and free shipping.

I am trying to buys as much as I can from LBS, or at least from CA brick mortar companies to support my own state. With price difference being drastic, it is very difficult indeed.
