    WTB Stryker Wheelset = Junk?

I recently purchased a new set of WTB Stryker race 29 wheels. The reviews I read were pretty good and I got them for a great price. Now the problem. They were untrue out of the box, so I had my LBS true them. Two short rides later and they are out of true again. These were rides on fairly smooth terrain with some roots but no rock gardens. I am historically easy on wheels. I have never had this problem before. Should I true them again and give them one more try or get rid of them while they are still basically new? Just wondering what others have experienced with these wheels as well. BTW, I weigh 175 and these are on a titanium hardtail.

A former co-worker has the 26" version of the Stryker on his bike, one of them was a bit out of true out of the box but it trued up easily with no issues since then. His is the only set I've seen so it's not much to go on. My guess is your set got banged around in shipping and when your LBS trued them they didn't do a full stress relief process on the spokes during & after the wheel true (most bike shops won't when truing wheels, unless their mechanic is an older grouchy person who doesn't like talking to people, generally speaking).

If the tension is uneven, then just truing them isn't going to solve your issue. They need to be trued and tensioned evenly. I had the predecessor Laser Disc Trail TCS wheels and they were fine.
