Is it worth the money?

I ride a Yeti Big Top SS and want to get a SS wheelset for it. My girlfriend would notice if I got me a new bike but I think I can sneak the wheels in without her noticing. I have been thinking about going with the Stans Arch of Flows with the Stans hubs. I am 220lbs with out gear but still loosing weight. Is it worth paying more to save a little weight. Any recommendations with out breaking the bank.

It has the stock DT Swiss 350 hubs w/ 470 rims. I'm not sure of the weight for the set, but I really like the DT rear hub.

That is already a pretty light wheelset, the rims are only 20g heavier each than the Arch EX rims and IMO the hubs are at least on par with Stans ZTR hubs.

I'd probably use a spacer kit for the freehub body and call it good.

You should lace Flows to some White Industries hubs. They are super easy to service, consistently durable, and made right here in the US of A.

I'm with Bike Whisperer, I'd have to question if it's worth the up grade. I'd throw the current wheels on a scale to figure out their weight. That said, weight isn't everything, a stiff, well built wheel can ride much 'lighter' then a wheel that is less in weight.

At your size and for single speed I'd really look for a steel freehub body to prevent that one gear from working it's way through the splines, or at least a thick, ss specific gear.

Agreed, run what you have.

Lighter is going to cost a fair bit more.
