will 700x35c tire fit my 622x18 rim

I want to buy this tire: (the 700x35c)

but I don't know if it will fit my rims which are 622x18. (bontrager ERD 604)

    will it fit?

also, for future tire buying reference, could you try to explain to me how I can know if a tire will fit? Or just tell me what range of tires (based on the 700 numbering system) will fit my 29er rims, which are both labeled 622x18. I hate the numbering system that they use and I have never understood it.

    Yes.

622 is the rim/tire bead seat diameter. The most important number for fit.

The trouble with common sense is it is no longer common
