    Wheel building & Spoke lengths

    Hi,

I assume this is a common question asked by newbies to wheel building so here I am no doubt asking the same.

I used a spoke calculator and it told me i needed the following spoke lengths

    Front wheel:

    Left side = 261.6mm
    right Side = 263.7mm

    Rear Wheel:

    Left side = 262.8mm
    Right side = 262.2mm

Looking to do 32 spoke wheels with 3-cross pattern.

Is this what I need to buy:

    16 x 261mm
    16 x 263mm
    32 x 262mm

    ?????????

    Thanks in advance

    Dean

Thanks for the link to the links. Ive had a good look at them and some suggest to round up or down, mostly down. Am i rounding down to the nearest whole number? or do i go more?

Re: Wheel building & Spoke lengths

I would just use all 262. It's less of an exact science than the spoke calculus leads you to believe.

It depends which program you use, I usually rounded up with mine (Wheelsmith), 262's would not have worked out well at all if I came up with a 263.7 number.

Measure the rim before calculating and ordering spokes.
