Tyre selection: maxxis ignitor vs geax barro race

    Hello!

This is my first post, and I need your help!

In 6 day I will attend my first MTB marathon.
    200 km, 2.000m of climbing.
75% paved road, 25% macadam (macadam is only when climbing/descending two times on peaks with 1000m elevation)

On my bike I have maxxis high roller , but of course that is not an option

On my local store, I can only buy these two suitable tyres:

    Maxxis Ignitor 26*1,95 http://www.maxxis.com/Bicycle/Mountain/Ignitor.aspx
    Geax Barro race 26*2.0 http://www.geax.com/en/products/?cat=2&prod=2

Please give me advice , which tyre to select from these two .. Thanks!

is available on my local store...

So, which you recommend for these type of road configuration?
    thanks!

the sammy slick is a nice tire. low rolling resistance, good puncture resistance and quite cheap.
i personally like two different tires on my bike.
a fronttire with more grip and a rear tire with lower rolling resistance.
if i would only have the four tires as an option, i would use the barro race front and the sammy slick rear.

If you could possibly try another LBS that carries other brands... Check out Continental race kings. Very fast, great on the road/hard pack and long lasting...

I've had some time on the Barro Race. If your conditions are dry, loose over hard pack, the Barro Race is not a great front tire. It will slam dunk you into the dust. It would appear the wide spacing between the minimal knobs might be the issue
It is fast though and light and works reasonably as a rear tire, in my opinion.

the sammy slick rolls easier, the ignitor offers more grip. if you want to use both, you should use the ignitor front and the sammy slick rear.

    So, i decided the following:

    rear: furious fred 26*2,0 (330g)
    front: maxxis ignitor 26*1,95 (660g)

PS: The weather says that it would be rainy, so the roads would be wet.....
