is there a difference between 28 vs 32 holes wheel tension?

is there a difference between 28 vs 32 holes wheel tension?

Do less spokes compromise the wheel integrity or safety?

Some rim manufacturers downrate their rim maximum spoke tension as the spoke number increases, for example from 32 to 36.

Generally, for riding weights less than 250 pounds, I'm comfortable using 32 spokes for greater durability, and the capability to ride back to the trailhead, rather than walk, if you break a spoke. With 28 spoke wheels, there is less support to the rim, and the effect of breaking a spoke is much more noticeable.

As the spoke count decreases, the rim strength and weight need to be increased. This usually results in a wheel with higher weight and inertia, which is less fun to ride.
Others may feel differently about the number of spokes.

I have an old XT wheelset that has only 24 spokes. This wheel is stiff and light compare to my DTSwiss X430 wheelset which has 32 spokes.

I wonder if I buy 28 spokes custom enve carbon wheelset; would it be strong enough to support my light weight 140lbs.

The ENVE XC rims are light and strong, as compared with aluminum alloy rims. They are plenty strong for your riding weight.
